How to Enter Feet and Inches

How to input Foot, Inch and Fractions using dynamic input

When the Units of your drawing are set to "Feet" (see Drawing Properties) you can enter measurement in the dynamic input fields as decimal feet or using feet and inches and fractional inches.

You can separate feet, inches, and fractional inches with a dash, a space, or nothing: feet'-inches" or feet' inches" or feet'inches"

If no quote or double quote is added, the units of the drawing, i.e. FEET, are assumed.

When adding fractional inches, most variations based on these rules are valid, but only one dash will be accepted.

Examples:

  • 5' can be entered as 5 or 5' or 60”

  • 5'-9" can be entered as 5.75 or 5 9 or 5-9 or 5'-9” or 5' 9” or 5'9”

  • 5'-0 1/2" can be entered as 5 1/2 or 5-1/2 or 5'-1/2” or 5' 1/2” or 5'1/2”

  • 5'-9 1/2" can be entered as 5 9 1/2 or 5-9 1/2 or 5 9-1/2 or 5' 9-1/2” or 5'9-1/2” or 5'-9 1/2” or 5' 9 1/2” or 5'9 1/2”
